Grandpa & Grandma Heat Up I15 Again

This post is a little late but better late than never... I also wanted to also post some pictures but they are stuck in my cell phone until I get more tech savvy.

Mom & Dad heated up the I15 again earlier this month to visit the State side Smiths. Uncle Stephen, Richard and Ryan were once again the beneficiaries of the cleaning and decluttering tour de force of Grandma Smith.

Part of their stay included a "field trip" with them and Murray in tow. Mom and Dad wanted to buy a new bed for Amy's room which doubles as a guest room now. It was a good excuse for us to be together and enjoy traveling around talking and just enjoying the beautiful fall weather we are having.

It didn't take long to find a decent, not too pricey bed, over at R.C. Willey Home Furnishings. Murray has a buddy who works there who took care of us in short order and very professionally. So now we have a great new sleep set for all who visit Highland Hotel Smith.

The morning of my birthday I had a great round of golf with Dad, Murray and a buddy Kee Miller. We played Sleepy Ridge in Orem which is a relatively new course but already in great shape. Even managed to par a few holes (once again proving that the Law of Averages can every-once-in-a-while over come Murphy's Law).

In the afternoon Mom, Dad and I went up American Fork Canyon to hike in the Granite Flats region. The fall colors were still on display and we enjoyed the scenic vistas of the eastern flanks of Mt. Timpanogos. Between the snow caps, the yellow leafed aspens, which looked like veins of gold threading through the evergreens, all against the backdrop of a beautiful blue sky, it looked like a postcard.

As we were hiking we came to a wonderful, peaceful meadow. Our attention was shortly drawn to a beautiful big rabbit with unique white markings that was as curious about us as we were about it. This was extremely unusual because you very seldom, if ever, see rabbits in the Wasatch mountains especially at the elevation that we were at. It struck a tender chord with us because of the association of rabbit sightings with remembrances of Collin. Suffice it to say it warmed out hearts.

While the folks were down we also took advantage to have a family gathering and celebration of Canadian Thanksgiving. Murray & Heidi were gracious to have us come to their place. Roll call included Grandpa & Grandma Smith, Murray's gang (including Cody's girlfriend Laura), Nathan's crew, Jordan and his "friend" Charisa (sp?), Jenny & Dave, Spencer, Lisa, Austin (and Austin's brother), David & Naomi, Richard and Ryan. We just finished the left overs (except for a little bit of stuffing...I know TMI) the other day.
